For those of you who are unfamiliar with this mix's title and cover art, first of all, shame on you! They are the Orz, an extradimensional race in the universe of Star Control, an old space exploration adventure game from the early '90s. The Orz have very unusual linguistics that the ship's computer can't properly translate, resulting in some very odd, cryptic, and wholely awesome nonsensical phrases. At the end of a conversation, they remind the player to "enjoy the *sauce*!!!" Whatever that means.

It's been a year since the last mix, and this is the best I can do? I mean, really? And to put a title as awesome as The *Sauce* on it -- thats gotta be like some kind of heresy or something. This mix is easily the worst of the three, which is a shame since this mix has some pretty epic tracks on it that are not given due justice.

It's not without its successes, though. I thought the mashup of Halcyon with Ride worked pretty well for the most part, and I was particularly pleased with Designs vs. Visible Noise. Starlight is pretty far removed from my usual sound but it worked very well in its position. Plus, I managed to avoid overloading on Hybrid this time. Maybe that's why I'm not happy with the results.

This started off as two separate mixes, each with a very defined sound. One had a happier, uplifting sound, while the other had the darker (and richer, I think) sound that is more typical of my preferences. After months of not making any significant progress on either one, thanks largely to a tiny library of songs I either already used in previous mixes or didn't fit with anything else (or more likely, a lack of sufficient skill to make what I do have work), I just combined the two mixes together and went from there. The bridge between the two is pretty weak, but it must've taken me a month just to come up with it. The end result is something resembling a random selection of tracks, much like Thirteen Pieces was. The difference is that Thirteen Pieces actually worked. I think that's at least partly because the tracks in Thirteen are more interesting to listen to. And this time I really tried, but somehow I can't seem to normalize the volume. Some parts are definitely louder than others.

So if I'm so unhappy with this one, why am I putting it out? Because it's been a year and some change since my last one; because it's time to be done with it; and so I can share its successes without wating another year before getting around to fixing it.
